Assignment 1
Due before start of class on 3/2

Neo-Gothic campus scavenger hunt and reflection

Midterm
Due before start of class on 3/23

Take-home prompted midterm. Visual analysis and beginning a research plan. An in-person visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is strongly recommended, though not required, for the completion of this midterm. The MET is pay-what-you-wish for students with a NY school ID. Giving $1 is enough!

Assignment 2
Due before start of class on 4/20

Mock cover letter (300-350 words) describing how the skills and knowledge you have developed in this class have prepared you for a job, internship, or career path of your choosing. You can choose anything you are interested in, or if you are unsure, talk to me in advance and I can help you come up with an idea. Format it as you would a real cover letter.

Final
Due by 11:59pm on 5/22

Take-home final exam (500-750 words). The final will be an opportunity to develop an outline and description of your own thematic class focused around three artworks of your choosing. More information will be shared later in the semester. *To do well on the final, you should be taking notes each class so that you can refer to them toward the end of the semester.*

Late Assignment Policy:

Automatic extensions are given for each assignment and the midterm (excluding the final) to the following Friday at 12:00 pm, but I must be notified before the assignment is originally due that you will be using the extension. Failure to notify me ahead of time will result in a deduction of points. If you need additional time to complete an assignment under extenuating circumstances, please reach out to me in advance. We can work something out.

This extension policy is here to help you, but I highly recommend trying your hardest to meet the original deadlines and to not make a habit of using the extensions regularly. Coursework piles up quickly.
